What is the purpose, root, meaning or truth to our life?

We need wisdom to understand this - not science!

"Tao" pronounced "Dow" in English, means "Truth." If we were spirits watching out over humanity, we would understand what is the ultimate truth from the human's distorted truth. "Truth" = Law of the universe. Predictions are based on these laws and the higher level ninja understood that. "Kharma" = Cause & Effect. Buddhists fear cause while we are afraid of effect. This comes from the knowledge of the two kinds of self - the Physical self and the True self. Common people concentrate on the physical self while spiritual people - namely Buddha's, pursue the true self. We need the physical self to cultivate the True self.

There are many illusions in life. Common people cannot understand this without the Truth. The Tao is the truth that is not understood by doctors, philosophers etc... because it takes wisdom to understand the laws. If we create Cause, we cannot stop the Effects. This is why Buddhists and common people are different. The common people are always focused on the materialistic like, food to eat, other's thoughts etc...The common people's happiness does not come from these materialistic things and if we pursue these materialistic things, we find Kharma. It is not something that we can embrace or not embrace, acknowledge or deny its existence, or treat it like some new age jargon. Kharma is old age. Its been with us as long as we have existed. "I am Kharma." Everything that I think, say and do is kharmic.

This brings us to the "Three poisons" of Body, Speech and Mind. There are ten Non-virtuous actions that bring about bad Kharma.

3 of the Body

Killing, stealing and sexual misconduct.

4 of Speech

Lying, devise of speech or slander, harsh of angry words, and idle gossip.

3 of the Mind

Ignorance, desire and anger, or greed and hostility

The problem is that we tend to treat these 3 poisons more as words but, it needs to be take to the personal level of  "I"

To understand Kharma and to be able to get a hold of it so that it doesn't get a hold of us, we need to know that there are two kinds of Kharma; "Throwing Kharma" and "Ripening Kharma." They are best explained as that which we put out into the atmosphere and that which ripens upon us from our past actions. And because we don't have a good sense of Kharma or that we are even causing it, we are not able to control Kharma. We are not able to detach ourselves from our actions long enough to make any difference or to make any changes. So, we feel like somebody is in control. We feel like God is controlling us, or everybody in the world is controlling us but, what is really in control us is our own Kharma. Everything we experience inside - feelings and thoughts, and our whole outer reality is kharmic.

It is not easy to create kharma. We don't realize that these mental abstractions are taking place but they are. We have all of these ingenuities and we believe that someone or something "Made me do them," or we feel, "I don't deserve what is happening to me right now!"

So, what does happen to us? This can be an eye-opening experience for some people.

If we kill, our own lives are shortened and we experience sickness.

When we steal, we lack wealth and possessions ourselves. Stealing is a part of the greed and there is a saying; "Greedy, greedy never gets!" That's what happens too people that steal, they lose everything they have ever gotten.

Sexual misconduct like promiscuity - too much emphasis on sex, can create bad kharma. Also, if we are married or commit ourselves to somebody and then become fickle, that creates bad kharma. Our whole culture is based on sex. Sigmund Freud tapped into the negative mind and believed erroneously that this is the nature of humans. So, the culture has given in to this belief that we are just sexual beings and nurtured that idea. As a kharmic result, we have wide-spread sexual diseases. And, people don't understand the result and so they say, "What did I do to deserve this?" and they think, "I am innocent!" But, everybody gets what they deserve because it's not God looking after us, it's our own actions coming back or, as I like to put it, it is the wheel of sharp blades returning. When we commit sexual misconduct, we not only become separated from our own partners, we become separated from our friends and family. We create causes and conditions to be abandoned by others. Even if we are an employer, our employees leave us. We become very lonely and not to appealing, or you can say that we lose our, "Sex appeal."

If we lie, of course, no one trusts us. That can be proven here and now. If we become divisive, we become unharmonious with our relationships with others. The same way we cause problems in other's relationships, so we will have those same problems in our relationships. We have to experience that which we create for others. We feel that we will be alright but, this is based on the ignorant mind talking. We have erroneously taken on the attitude that God will forgive everything that we do. We are like spoiled children. We scream and cry and point the finger elsewhere. We can test this out as well. If I become angry, then anger returns right away. This can be such an easy lesson to learn but, because of our clouded mind and our delusions, we don't understand why others have become angry back at us. We expect others to put up with our abuse and when they don't, we become even angrier. We become like Hell-beings. We just bang each other over the head with anger. And then what do we have? We have EGO! Nobody wants to say, "I am sorry!" Everybody feels "SELF-RIGHTEOUS" I can get mad at you but, you must not get mad at me. I've destroyed some very meaningful relationships with women that I felt were dear to my heart because of this. We all can relate to this as Tao! - The Inner Truth.

Idle gossip - it sounds so innocent, right? Idle gossip is not so idle or innocent. It is always a, "How wonderful I am!" expression. Check it out! You don't have to take my word for it. Whenever people are talking about the Toronto Maple Leafs, or the Blue Jays, or the latest movie, dance or meal, it's all so wonderful for them. I had such a great time. "I loved this food and I couldn't stand that, and this, and that, and I am just all I that think about." And, that is what idle gossip is - SELF-CENTEREDNESS! It is a great waste of time. Our culture is drowning in idle gossip and what it's about. It is all the meaningless competitions as to whether this is good or this is bad, this is pleasurable or this is not. "Why and I so good that I can't have anything that I want?" "I can't have anything that is not good!" "I must have the best!" That is the pathetic ness that our whole culture is built on. SELFLESSNESS never takes place in idle gossip. It's for ones own benefit; it's meaninglessness and desire.

In closing, I ask that you not simply take my word about these poisons. They are experiential. Go out and take them to the extreme and come back in a month and write me to tell me how happy an environment you have created for yourself! Then, work on eliminating them one by one and let me know how they have changed your life!

"Growth for change and change for growth."

"Just keep going!"
